Chapter 4: Too Late to Undo Yesterday

Chapter 4: Too Late to Undo Yesterday

Daniel burst into the hospital moments before sunrise.

His suit was soaked from the rain.

His breathing was uneven.

Outside the operating room stood her father.

The older man looked at Daniel with quiet disappointment.

"You finally came."

Daniel lowered his head.

"Please... let me see her."

Her father didn't answer immediately.

Instead, he handed Daniel the tiny pink gift box.

"You know what hurts the most?"

Daniel looked up.

"She defended you."

"Even after hearing those words."

"She kept saying our baby deserved a father."

Daniel could no longer speak.

The operating room doors slowly opened.

A doctor stepped outside.

"The surgery is over."

"Your daughter is safe."

Daniel closed his eyes in relief.

"But..."

The doctor paused.

"Your wife doesn't want to see you."

Several hours later...

Daniel quietly entered the nursery.

Behind the glass...

A tiny baby girl slept peacefully.

He placed one trembling hand against the window.

Tears finally filled his eyes.

Not because he had lost his marriage.

But because he understood something far more painful.

Forgiveness is never guaranteed.

Some mistakes can be regretted forever...

Even when love still remains.

The End.
