Richard opened it.

The brake line had been deliberately cut.
The fingerprints matched Marcus.
Vivian had purchased the replacement parts using a false company account three days before the crash.
Richard closed his eyes.
"They tried to kill me."
The investigator nodded.
"So they could inherit before the trust changed."
Richard sat silently for several minutes.
Then tears finally rolled down his face.
