Chapter 3: Meredith's Trial

The courtroom was packed.

The prosecution barely needed witnesses.

The recording spoke for itself.

Still, every member of the Whitmore family was called to testify.

Charles admitted he had seen Meredith shove Claire.

Evelyn admitted she never called for help.

Daniel confessed he hesitated because he feared upsetting his family.

The jury listened in stunned silence.

Meredith's attorney argued it had been an accident.

Then the prosecutor replayed the whisper.

"Next time, I'll make sure it's your face."

The defense collapsed instantly.

After only three hours of deliberation, the jury returned.

"Guilty."

On every count.

Meredith was sentenced to eight years in state prison.

As deputies led her away, she turned toward Claire.

Claire simply looked back without saying a single word.

She no longer needed revenge.

Justice had spoken.
