Chapter 4 — A New Beginning
Several hours later, the operating room doors finally opened.
The doctor smiled.
"Both mother and baby are safe."
Relief swept through the hallway.
Caleb rushed into Emily's recovery room.
She lay exhausted but smiling softly.
In her arms rested a healthy baby girl.
Tears filled Caleb's eyes as he kissed Emily's forehead.
"You both made it."
Emily whispered,
"I thought I was going to lose her."
"You never will," Caleb replied.
Outside the room, detectives informed Eleanor that formal charges would proceed based on the medical evidence, witness statements, and surveillance footage.
For the first time in her life, no amount of money, reputation, or family name could shield her from accountability.
