Chapter 2 — Every Lie Begins to Collapse
Within thirty minutes, two detectives arrived at the hospital.
Not because of Eleanor's wealth.
Because the hospital had already filed an incident report after reviewing Emily's injuries.
The detectives asked everyone to remain seated.
Caleb handed one detective his phone.
"The cloud backup uploaded automatically."
The detective watched the footage.
Emily quietly climbing the stairs.
Eleanor following behind her.
The shouting.
The aggressive confrontation.
Emily backing away while protecting her stomach.
Then Eleanor forcefully shoved her shoulder.
Emily lost her balance on the staircase.
The room remained silent until the video ended.
One detective finally looked at Eleanor.
"Mrs. Sterling..."
"Would you like to explain what we just watched?"
Her confidence vanished.
