Chapter 2: The Truth Daniel Never Expected
Two days later, Daniel visited the urologist.
He expected confirmation.
Instead, he received devastating news.
The doctor placed the laboratory report on the desk.
"Mr. Mitchell..."
"Your vasectomy has not yet been confirmed as successful."
Daniel stared blankly.
"What?"
"You never returned for your follow-up semen analysis."
"I didn't think I needed to."
The doctor sighed.
"Every patient is instructed to continue using protection until laboratory testing confirms there are no sperm remaining."
He slid another report across the desk.
"Your recent test shows viable sperm are still present."
Daniel felt the room spinning.
"So..."
"I could still father a child."
"Yes."
Daniel suddenly remembered Lauren's desperate voice repeating those exact words in the kitchen.
"The doctor told us it isn't effective immediately."
She had been telling the truth.
All along.
He walked outside in silence.
His phone vibrated.
It was Vanessa.
"I heard you went to the doctor."
Daniel closed his eyes.
"It's my baby."
Silence.
Then Vanessa spoke quietly.
"So... you left your wife for nothing?"
Before Daniel could answer, another message appeared on his phone.
Lauren had filed for divorce.
Attached were screenshots of every public post Daniel had made accusing her of adultery.
Every insult.
Every humiliation.
May you like
Every lie.
His own words had become evidence.
