Chapter 4: A Different Kind of Forever

Six months later...
Amy no longer cried when she looked at her wedding photos.
She had donated the dress to a charity that transformed wedding gowns into burial garments for infants, giving grieving families comfort during unimaginable loss.
"It deserves to become something beautiful," she had said.
She left the company she and Maverick had planned to build together and opened her own event design studio.
Ironically...
She became known for creating unforgettable weddings.
Not because she believed every marriage lasted forever.
But because she understood exactly how precious trust really was.
One autumn afternoon, while decorating a charity gala, Amy noticed an elderly couple slowly dancing in the corner.
Their hands were wrinkled.
Their smiles were effortless.
No expensive diamonds.
No grand gestures.
Only quiet devotion.
The old gentleman caught her watching.
He smiled.
"You know the secret?"
Amy shook her head.
He kissed his wife's forehead.
"You marry the person who protects your heart when no one is looking."
Amy smiled for the first time without any trace of sadness.
Across town, Maverick and Penelope's relationship had ended almost as quickly as it began.
Once the excitement of secrecy disappeared, all that remained was mistrust.
Each wondered if the other would betray them the same way.
Eventually...
They walked away from each other exactly as they had entered—
Through betrayal.
Amy never looked back.
Because losing the wrong person wasn't the tragedy.
Almost marrying him was.
And as she locked her office that evening, the sunset painted the sky gold.
For the first time in a long time...
Her future looked even brighter than the wedding she never had.
