Margaret sat behind her mahogany desk, Julian standing beside her like a bodyguard, as Emma walked in with her attorney.

Margaret slid a settlement paper across the desk—a massive payout, conditioned on Emma’s absolute silence and the return of all financial records.

"Take it and rebuild your little life somewhere else, Emma," Margaret said coldly. "You don't have the stomach to finish this."

Emma didn't look at the paper. Instead, her attorney opened a briefcase and pulled out a subpoena.

"I don't need your money, Margaret," Emma said. "And I don't need to leak anything to the press. I spent the last forty-eight hours giving formal depositions to federal investigators.
