Chapter 3 — The Woman He Could Never Reach Again
Chapter 3 — The Woman He Could Never Reach Again

For the first time in his life...
Nathan understood what power actually looked like.
Not loud.
Not arrogant.
Quiet.
Precise.
Absolute.
He spent the next week calling everyone who had once called him friend.
No one answered.
The politicians ignored him.
The investors declined meetings.
Even his own relatives refused to take his calls.
Camille lasted exactly five days.
The moment newspapers reported Nathan's personal accounts had been frozen, she quietly packed her designer luggage.
"You said we'd always be rich."
Nathan stared at her.
"You said you loved me."
She laughed bitterly.
"I loved the life you had."
The apartment door closed behind her.
Nathan never saw her again.
With nowhere else to go, he drove to Sterling Manor.
The estate looked even grander than he remembered.
Private security surrounded the gates.
He stepped out of the taxi carrying only one small suitcase.
"I need to see my wife."
One guard calmly replied,
"Ms. Sterling is unavailable."
"Please... tell her Nathan is here."
The guard spoke into his radio.
A moment later he looked back.
"She said she doesn't know anyone by that name."
Nathan's face turned white.
"I made a mistake."
"I'll apologize."
"I'll do anything."
The gates never opened.
As his taxi pulled away...
He looked through the iron bars one last time.
Sophia was standing on the balcony overlooking the ocean.
She wasn't crying.
She wasn't smiling.
She simply turned around...
...and walked back inside.
Without looking back.
