CHAPTER 1: THE TRUTH NO ONE EXPECTED

The ballroom fell silent.
Hundreds of eyes turned toward the little boy standing at the microphone.
His small hands trembled, but he didn't back away.
His father, Richard Hawthorne, one of the city's most respected businessmen, forced a smile.
"Sweetheart," he said gently, "why don't you come back here?"
But the boy shook his head.
"No."
A murmur spread through the crowd.
Richard's face tightened.
The boy swallowed hard.
Then he pointed toward the giant family portrait hanging behind the stage.
"Everyone thinks we're a happy family."
His voice cracked.
"But Mom cries almost every night."
Gasps echoed across the room.
Richard's wife, Emily, froze in her chair.
The guests exchanged uneasy looks.
"Mom cries because Dad lies."
The room erupted.
Richard stepped forward.
"That's enough."
But Emily suddenly stood.
Her eyes were filled with tears.
"No," she whispered.
For the first time in years, she looked directly at her husband.
"Let him finish."
Richard's confidence vanished.
And for the first time, the guests realized there was something terribly wrong behind the Hawthorne family's perfect image.
The boy reached into his jacket and pulled out a small flash drive.
"I found this in Dad's office."

The room became silent once again.
Nobody knew that the real nightmare was only beginning.
