Chapter 3 – A Father's Greatest Defeat

Eduardo slowly stood up.
His expensive suit...
His luxury watch...
His reputation...
None of it mattered anymore.
He walked toward Santiago.
The entire family watched.
His daughter held her breath.
"I spent years teaching people how to earn money," Eduardo said quietly.
"But I never learned how to measure a man's character."
His voice cracked.
"I judged you because of a uniform."
"I thought dignity came from status."
Santiago remained silent.
Eduardo lowered his head.
"I'm sorry."
Those two words shocked everyone more than the ownership announcement.
The proud businessman had never apologized to anyone.
Not once.
His daughter covered her mouth as tears rolled down her cheeks.
Santiago stepped forward.
"You don't owe me an apology because you embarrassed me."
He paused.
"You owe your daughter one."
Eduardo slowly turned toward her.
For years...
She had defended her husband.
For years...
He had ignored every word she said.
With trembling hands, he embraced her.
"I'm sorry for making you choose between your father... and your husband."
She cried against his shoulder.
"I never wanted to choose."
For the first time in years...
They truly became family.
