Chapter 5 — A Father's First Real Choice

That evening, Logan invited Marina back to the estate.

No cameras.

No staff.

No Vanessa.

Only Noah.

The little boy quietly walked into the library.

For several seconds, he simply looked at Marina.

Then he crossed the room.

This time he didn't run.

He smiled.

A tiny, uncertain smile.

She knelt to his height.

"Hello, Noah."

He reached into his pocket.

Inside was a folded drawing.

Three stick figures holding hands.

One was labeled Dad.

One was labeled Me.

The third had only one word.

Marina.

Logan's eyes burned.

Noah looked up at him.

"Dad..."

It was the first time his son had ever spoken directly to him.

"I... safe."

Only two words.

But they carried years of silence.

Logan knelt beside his son.

"I'm sorry."

Noah slowly took his father's hand.

Then he placed Marina's hand on top of it.

The gesture needed no explanation.

For the first time since losing his voice, Noah wasn't asking for someone to save him.

He was asking the two people he trusted most not to let go of each other.
