Chapter 1: The Truth Hidden in the Bracelet

Chapter 1: The Truth Hidden in the Bracelet

The airport terminal fell silent as security officers handcuffed the elegant woman before she could disappear into the crowd.

She didn't struggle.

She simply lowered her head, knowing the lie she had carried for eight years had finally collapsed.

The little boy stood frozen beside the airport employee.

His small fingers still clung tightly to the worn silver bracelet.

"What's your name?" the employee asked softly.

The boy hesitated.

"They call me Daniel..."

He looked down at the bracelet.

"...but my mom always told me my real name might be Mateo."

The employee swallowed hard.

"Your mother was right."

Within minutes, detectives arrived.

The forged passport was examined first.

The photograph matched the boy.

The identity did not.

Every document had been fabricated.

The woman had spent years moving from country to country under different names, raising Mateo as her own while making sure no one ever questioned where he came from.

Then one detective opened an old missing-child database.

A faded photograph appeared on the screen.

An exhausted young woman smiled while holding a laughing toddler wearing the very same silver bracelet.

The detective slowly turned the monitor toward the boy.

Mateo stared at it.

Tears filled his eyes.

"...That's me."

No one in the room spoke.

For the first time in eight years...

The missing child had finally found his own face.
