CHAPTER 2 — THE LOST SYMPHONY

No one spoke.

Gabriel Laurent held the torn page as though it were the most fragile treasure on earth.

His fingers traced the faded pencil marks.

The same handwriting.

The same rhythm.

The same soul.

He slowly looked at the frightened girl still kneeling on the floor.

"What is your name?"

"Lily Reed."

A sharp breath escaped him.

"Reed?"

She nodded.

"My father was Daniel Reed."

The room seemed to spin.

Gabriel closed his eyes for a brief moment.

Ten years of searching.

Ten years of unanswered letters.

Ten years believing Daniel's greatest work had died with him.

And now...

His daughter stood before him.

Victoria Ashford folded her arms.

"So what? Anyone can claim to be related to a dead composer."

Gabriel ignored her.

Instead, he crouched beside Lily.

"Did your father ever leave you anything besides these pages?"

Lily hesitated before reaching into her worn backpack.

She removed an old wooden music box.

Inside rested dozens of neatly folded manuscript pages, protected beneath yellowed wax paper.

"My father told me never to let anyone throw these away."

Gabriel carefully unfolded the papers.

His hands began to tremble.

Every missing movement.

Every unfinished transition.

Every page he had spent a decade searching for...

Was there.

The final movement of Daniel Reed's lost symphony.

Tears quietly filled Gabriel's eyes.

"You didn't write just a beautiful piece today."

He looked directly at Lily.

"You carried your father's masterpiece into this room."

Every musician stared in disbelief.

Victoria's confident smile slowly disappeared.

Gabriel stood and faced the orchestra.

"Today's rehearsal is canceled."

Everyone looked confused.

"Because today..."

He lifted the manuscript high.

"...music history has just been rewritten."

For the first time, every eye in the room looked at Lily not with pity—

But with awe.
