Chapter 1: The Coffee He Never Suspected

Damon smiled as he accepted the coffee.

"I'm perfectly fine," Renee replied.

She even leaned forward and kissed his cheek.

For a brief second, guilt flickered across his face.

Then it disappeared.

He believed her.

He left for work fifteen minutes later, whistling softly as he backed his SUV out of the driveway.

The moment the garage door closed, Renee locked every entrance to the house.

She didn't cry.

Instead, she carried her laptop to the dining table and opened a spreadsheet.

Every lie deserved a timeline.

She imported screenshots of the emails.

Downloaded their shared calendar.

Matched every "Lunch with T" against her own event schedule.

Then she checked phone records from their shared carrier account.

The numbers made her stomach twist.

They hadn't been hiding an affair for months.

They had been communicating almost every single day for nearly three years.

Thousands of calls.

Thousands of text messages.

Some lasting only seconds.

Others stretching well past midnight while Damon had claimed he was "working late."

At noon, Renee drove to the bank.

She quietly opened a brand-new private account.

Every dollar she personally earned through Caldwell Events would begin flowing there instead of into their shared finances.

Next came the lawyer.

When attorney Melissa Grant finished reviewing the evidence, she looked across her desk.

"You don't want revenge."

Renee calmly shook her head.

"I want the truth to arrive all at once."

Melissa nodded.

"Then don't confront either of them."

"I won't."

"Let them keep believing they're safe."

Renee smiled.

"They already are."

"They just don't know they're walking toward the cliff."
