Within forty-eight hours the investigation uncovered something no one expected.

Celeste had never intended to become a wife.

She intended to become the owner.

Through forged signatures and manipulated legal documents, she had quietly transferred millions of dollars into shell companies controlled by her brother.

More disturbing...

She had arranged private meetings with a prestigious boarding academy in Switzerland.

Applications already existed.

Three names appeared on them.

Emma Sterling.

Noah Sterling.

Sophie Sterling.

Permanent guardianship after enrollment:

Celeste Vale Sterling.

Graham stared at the documents in disbelief.

"If I had married her..."

His attorney nodded.

"She would have obtained legal authority over your children."

Even Evelyn could no longer defend her.

"I... I didn't know."

Graham looked at his mother with tired eyes.

"You never asked."

Meanwhile Hannah packed her suitcase.

Her contract had ended.

The crisis was over.

She believed it was time to leave before becoming another source of conflict.

She quietly folded Sophie's favorite blanket.

Emma entered first.

"You promised."

Hannah smiled sadly.

"I promised I'd stay until your father came back."

"He did."

Noah walked in carrying a drawing.

It showed five stick figures holding hands.

Above them was written:

Family.

Sophie climbed into Hannah's lap.

"We're still scared."

Before Hannah could answer, Graham appeared at the doorway.

"I am too."

Everyone looked toward him.

He stepped inside without his suit jacket.

Without bodyguards.

Without assistants.

Only a father.

"I spent years building companies."

"I forgot how to build a home."

He looked directly at Hannah.

"I can't ask you to stay as an employee."

"But..."

"I hope you'll stay because this family still needs you."

Hannah hesitated.

"I don't belong in your world."

Emma smiled through tears.

"You belong in ours."
