Chapter 1: The Empire Was Never His
Chapter 1: The Empire Was Never His
Marcus stormed across the marble lobby, his expensive shoes echoing through the silence.
"This is ridiculous!" he shouted. "Call corporate immediately!"
The receptionist looked up, then quietly lowered her eyes.
"I'm sorry, sir... corporate instructed us to follow the new ownership order."
"There is no new owner!"
Before anyone answered, three black luxury sedans stopped outside the revolving doors.
The lobby fell silent.
Every employee instinctively straightened their uniforms.
The doors opened.
A silver-haired gentleman stepped inside, surrounded by attorneys, financial advisors, and members of a private security team.
Everyone recognized him immediately.
Eduardo Castillo.
Founder of Castle Hospitality Group.
The man whose name appeared in every business magazine but almost never in public.
Marcus froze.
"You..."
Eduardo didn't even acknowledge him.
Instead, he walked directly toward Isabella, who had just entered behind him.
"My daughter."
His voice was warm.
"You shouldn't have had to endure this."
Marcus's face turned pale.
"Daughter?"
The word echoed through the lobby.
The mistress's champagne glass slipped from her hand and shattered across the floor.
She stared at Isabella as if seeing her for the first time.
Eduardo slowly turned toward Marcus.
"I built this company forty-two years ago."
His voice remained calm.
"I placed it in a family trust."
Marcus swallowed.
Eduardo continued.
"When Isabella married you, she begged me not to reveal who she really was."
The employees exchanged stunned glances.
"She wanted someone to love her..."
"...not her inheritance."
Marcus felt his knees weaken.
"So I allowed you to believe you earned everything."
Eduardo stepped closer.
"But you never owned this hotel."
He paused.
"You never owned any of them."
Silence.
"You were simply entrusted to manage what belonged to my family."
Marcus whispered,
"There has to be some mistake..."
"There isn't."
One attorney handed him a thick folder.
"Your employment agreement."
Marcus flipped through the pages with trembling hands.
Buried deep inside was one clause.
If his marriage ended because of adultery, abuse, or deliberate humiliation of a family beneficiary...
...his executive authority would terminate immediately.
Effective upon confirmation.
Confirmed.
Ten minutes ago.
Marcus's hands began to shake uncontrollably.
The empire he thought he ruled...
...had vanished before the champagne in his glass had gone flat.
