Chapter 3: The Hidden Cameras

That night, after putting his daughter to bed, the father couldn't sleep.

Something felt wrong.

Much worse than he had imagined.

At two in the morning, he entered his private security office.

The mansion's surveillance system stored recordings for six months.

His hands shook as he searched through the footage.

The first video broke his heart.

His daughter standing alone at the dining table.

A plate of food in front of her.

The woman taking it away.

The little girl quietly saying, "I'm still hungry."

Another video.

The girl accidentally dropping a glass.

The woman forcing her to scrub the floor.

Another.

The child sitting on the staircase crying while the woman walked past without even looking at her.

Hour after hour, he watched.

Each recording felt like a knife.

Then he found something worse.

A video from three months earlier.

His daughter holding a photograph of her late mother.

The woman snatched it away.

Ripped it in half.

And threw it into the fireplace.

The father covered his mouth.

His wife hadn't just been cruel.

She had been systematically destroying the child's world.

At sunrise he made three phone calls.

One to his lawyer.

One to Child Protective Services.

And one to the woman herself.

"Come home," he said.

"We need to talk."

The woman smiled when she arrived.

She thought she could still manipulate him.

She had no idea that every lie she had ever told was waiting for her on a screen upstairs.
