Chapter 4: A Wedding That Became a New Beginning
Chapter 4: A Wedding That Became a New Beginning
The priest quietly closed his Bible.
"No vows should be spoken until the truth is known."
Daniel turned toward Emily.
"I'm sorry."
She took both of his hands.
"You didn't lie to me."
"We were both victims."
The guests expected the wedding to end in scandal.
Instead...
Daniel walked to Margaret.
For several seconds, neither of them spoke.
Then he wrapped his arms around the woman who had spent nearly three decades searching for him.
She broke down for the first time.
"My little boy..."
Daniel whispered through tears,
"I'm sorry it took me thirty years to find my mother."
Even Emily couldn't hold back her tears.
She hugged Margaret as well.
"You didn't ruin our wedding."
"You saved our lives."
Months later, after every document had been corrected and the courts officially restored Daniel's true identity, Daniel and Emily stood once again on the same church steps.
This time there were no secrets.
No forged papers.
No anonymous messages.
Only truth.
As they exchanged their vows, Margaret sat in the front row, smiling through tears while holding the first real family photograph they had ever taken together.
Some weddings begin with love.
Theirs began with the truth.
And because of that truth, it became a marriage built on trust that would never again be broken.
