Nobody spoke after Emma's confession.
The giant operations room remained frozen.
Even the CEO seemed unable to process what he had just heard.
"You built Atlas?" he finally asked.
Emma nodded.
Three years ago, she had been the youngest senior systems architect in the company.
Back then, executives praised her work.
Investors requested meetings with her.
Industry magazines called her a rising star.
Then everything changed.
Emma opened a folder containing thousands of archived emails.
The first email appeared on the main screen.
The sender was former Chief Technology Officer Daniel Cross.
The subject line made several executives shift uncomfortably.
"REMOVE HER FROM THE PROJECT."
Murmurs spread across the room.
The CEO stared at the date.
It had been sent one day after Atlas generated its first major prediction.
Emma opened the attached report.
The system had warned that a billion-dollar merger the company was preparing would fail catastrophically.
