CHAPTER 2 — THE PHOTO THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
The ballroom stood frozen in silence.
The maid's trembling hand held out the old photograph.
The groom slowly took it.
His face drained of color.
The man in the picture looked familiar.
Too familiar.
The photo showed a young businessman standing beside a luxury yacht nearly twenty years ago.
Beside him was another man.
A smiling father holding a little girl.
The maid.
Back when she was only a child.
The groom's hands began to shake.
"No..."
He stared at the businessman again.
It was his own father.
The founder of the family empire.
The man everyone believed had died an honorable businessman.
The maid wiped away tears.
"My father worked for your father."
The guests exchanged nervous glances.
The bride stood motionless.
For a moment, even her crime was forgotten.
The maid continued.
"My father discovered something terrible."
The ballroom remained silent.
"He found evidence that several wealthy investors were being poisoned slowly to steal their companies."
Gasps spread across the room.
The groom felt his chest tighten.
"My father tried to expose it."
She swallowed hard.
"But before he could go to the police..."
Her voice broke.
"He died after drinking poisoned orange juice."
The groom looked at the shattered glass on the floor.
The same drink.
The same method.
The same nightmare.
Suddenly, pieces of a puzzle started falling into place.
Then the maid revealed the most shocking truth of all.
"The woman who poisoned my father..."
