CHAPTER 1 — THE LIE THAT NEVER LEFT

The room remained frozen.
No one dared to breathe.
The billionaire, Adrian Sinclair, slowly loosened his tie without taking his eyes off the pregnant maid.
Her name was Lily.
She had worked in the mansion for barely six months.
Or so everyone believed.
"You said she resigned," Adrian said quietly.
His wife, Victoria, forced a smile.
"She did. She came back today without permission."
Lily shook her head through tears.
"No, sir..."
"I never left."
Victoria spun toward her.
"Don't you dare lie!"
But Adrian raised one hand.
Silence returned instantly.
He walked toward Lily and knelt beside her on the marble floor.
The expensive fabric of his suit soaked up the spilled soup, but he didn't seem to notice.
"Can you stand?"
Lily tried.
Pain shot through her body.
She collapsed again.
Adrian immediately picked her up in his arms.
Victoria stared in disbelief.
"You... you're carrying a maid?"
He finally looked at his wife.
"The woman carrying my child deserves far more respect than you've shown her."
The words struck the room like lightning.
Every servant gasped.
Victoria's face lost every trace of color.
"No..."
"That's impossible."
Adrian turned toward his security chief.
"Call an ambulance."
"And bring me every security recording from this house for the last seven months."
Victoria suddenly understood.
Her secrets were about to be exposed.
