Chapter 2: The Return of the Forgotten Family

Before anyone could speak—

The ballroom doors opened.

Three black SUVs had arrived outside.

Men and women dressed in dark formal suits entered without hurry.

Not bodyguards.

Not police.

Executors.

Behind them walked an elegant elderly woman with silver hair and striking green eyes.

The moment she saw Emma...

She stopped breathing.

Tears filled her eyes.

"My little Rose..."

she whispered.

Emma frowned.

"My name is Emma."

The woman smiled through trembling tears.

"No."

"When you were born..."

"Your parents named you Rose Carrington."

She slowly approached.

Never forcing herself closer.

Never reaching out.

"I am your grandmother."

Emma's knees weakened.

Richard gently supported her.

The elderly woman opened a small velvet case.

Inside rested half of a gold locket.

Richard took Emma's faded photograph.

From behind it...

he carefully removed a tiny chain.

Attached to it...

the missing half.

The two pieces clicked together perfectly.

Inside the locket was one sentence.

Always find your way home.

Emma burst into tears for the first time that evening.

Not from humiliation.

From finally knowing who she was.

Her grandmother embraced both Emma and the little boy.

For twenty-six years...

she had believed they were gone forever.
