Chapter 2 — The Child She Erased

The matriarch hurried across the driveway, struggling to keep her composure.
"Close that case immediately."
The driver didn't move.
Instead, he removed an old photograph.
It showed a much younger version of the elegant billionaire.
She stood beside a small hospital bed, gently holding a newborn wrapped in a blue blanket.
The date printed beneath the picture was thirty-two years old.
One of the socialites whispered,
"I thought she never had children."
The matriarch's breathing became uneven.
"That picture means nothing."
The driver looked directly into her eyes.
"It means everything."
Then he unfolded another document.
A birth certificate.
The father's name had been removed.
The mother's name had not.
