Part 3 — The Empire Crumbles

Part 3 — The Empire Crumbles

"Lock the exits."

The command came from me.

Not security.

Not management.

Me.

The doors clicked shut.

Nobody was leaving.

Not yet.

Julian stood.

"This is ridiculous."

"Sit down."

The authority in my voice shocked even him.

And for the first time in ten years...

He obeyed.

Another file appeared on the screens.

Then another.

Then another.

Bank statements.

Shell companies.

Hidden transfers.

Offshore accounts.

A decade of fraud.

A decade of theft.

A decade of lies.

The investors began reading.

Several recognized their signatures.

Others recognized missing money.

One board member went completely pale.

Julian rushed toward the stage.

"Turn those screens off!"

Marcus shook his head.

"Impossible."

The evidence had already been sent.

Phones across the ballroom began buzzing.

Emails.

Legal notices.

Federal subpoenas.

Emergency board resolutions.

Every director had received the files.

Every investor had received the files.

Every regulator had received the files.

At exactly the same time.

Julian's knees nearly buckled.

Bella stared at him.

"What are they talking about?"

He couldn't answer.

Because he knew.

The truth was finally public.

His company wasn't worth billions.

It was drowning in debt.

He had hidden losses for years.

Forged reports.

Manipulated earnings.

Used investor funds to support his lifestyle.

The empire everyone admired was a house built from paper.

And tonight, the rain had arrived.

Bella slowly removed her hand from Julian's arm.

"Was any of it real?" she whispered.

Julian looked at her.

But she was already stepping away.

The room watched in silence as the woman he had flaunted all evening abandoned him in front of everyone.

Then his phone rang.

The chairman of the board.

Julian answered.

The call lasted seven seconds.

When it ended, his face was gray.

"What did they say?" Bella asked.

His voice cracked.

"I'm fired."

And then came the second notification.

All company accounts frozen.

Then the third.

Federal investigation opened.

Then the fourth.

Personal assets under review.

One by one, everything disappeared.

Not tomorrow.

May you like

Not next month.

Tonight.
