CHAPTER 3 — The Husband's Choice

The elevator doors opened.

A tall man stepped onto the terrace.

Daniel Carter.

The young woman's husband.

The little boy's father.

He had arrived late from an overseas business trip and immediately sensed something was wrong.

"What's happening?" he asked.

Nobody answered.

Daniel's eyes found his wife kneeling beside their son.

Then he saw his mother standing across from them.

And he understood.

The younger woman handed him her phone.

A recording was playing.

Every insult.

Every humiliation.

Every cruel word his mother had spoken.

Daniel listened in silence.

When the recording ended, his jaw tightened.

The older woman forced a smile.

"Daniel, darling, don't overreact—"

"Enough."

His voice cut through the terrace.

The older woman froze.

Daniel turned toward his wife.

Tears filled his eyes.

"I'm sorry."

The young woman stared at him.

For years she had waited to hear those words.

For years he had chosen peace over truth.

Silence over protection.

But tonight was different.

Daniel walked to his son and knelt beside him.

Then he stood and faced the crowd.

"My wife built this company beside me."

His voice echoed across the rooftop.

"Anyone who disrespects her disrespects me."

The guests exchanged nervous glances.

The older woman's confidence shattered.

For the first time in her life, she realized she could not control her son anymore.

And the consequences would be far greater than embarrassment.
