CHAPTER 4: A HOME FILLED WITH LAUGHTER AGAIN

CHAPTER 4: A HOME FILLED WITH LAUGHTER AGAIN

One year later, the Laurent mansion looked completely different.

The marble floors still gleamed.

The chandeliers still sparkled.

The white roses still filled the hallways.

But now laughter lived there again.

Real laughter.

The kind Gabriel thought had disappeared forever.

Lena raced through the foyer wearing bright winter clothes and carrying a school project.

"Dad! Dad! Look what I made!"

Gabriel looked up from his desk.

His entire world stopped whenever she smiled.

He studied the handmade picture.

It showed three people.

Lena.

Her mother.

And Gabriel.

Holding hands.

His throat tightened.

"You kept Mom in the drawing."

Lena smiled.

"She's still part of our family."

Gabriel pulled her into a hug.

The grief never vanished.

But it no longer controlled them.

Outside, a court ruling had permanently removed Marta from any claim connected to the Laurent estate.

Justice had finally arrived.

Inside the mansion, something far more important had arrived too.

Peace.

That evening, father and daughter sat beneath the grand staircase eating pizza directly from the box.

No servants.

No meetings.

No interruptions.

Just family.

As snow drifted softly beyond the windows, Lena rested her head against Gabriel's shoulder.

"Dad?"

"Yes, sweetheart?"

"You came back."

Gabriel smiled and kissed the top of her head.

"I always will."

And for the first time since losing her mother, Lena believed it.

The mansion that once echoed with silence was finally filled with love again.

The End.
