Part Two: The First Domino Falls

Julian Grant woke up the next morning expecting Amelia to calm down.

She always had before.

That was his biggest mistake.

At 7:03 a.m., his chief financial officer called.

“Julian, we have a problem.”

Julian rubbed his eyes.

“What now?”

“The Ashborne Trust just withdrew all financial guarantees from Grant Meridian.”

The sleep vanished instantly.

“What?”

“The banks are requesting immediate reviews.”

Julian sat upright.

“That’s impossible.”

But it wasn't.

Because Amelia had never merely been his wife.

She was Victoria Ashborne’s daughter.

And the Ashborne family controlled billions.

For eleven years Amelia had quietly used her influence to open doors, secure investors, and convince skeptical institutions to trust Julian's company.

Now every one of those doors was closing.

By noon three major investors had frozen negotiations.

By evening Grant Meridian stock had dropped fourteen percent.

The news channels called it market uncertainty.

Julian knew better.

Meanwhile Amelia sat peacefully inside her mother's estate.

She watched the financial reports without emotion.

Victoria placed a cup of tea beside her.

“You could stop this.”

Amelia looked at the screen.

“No.”

“Good.”

Victoria smiled.

“Then let him learn what the company looks like without you.”

Across town Serena wasn't smiling anymore.

When reporters discovered Julian’s affair, social media exploded.

Sponsors began distancing themselves.

Charity boards removed Serena from events.

The glamorous future she imagined suddenly looked fragile.

That night she asked Julian a question she never expected to ask.

“Is your company actually in trouble?”

May you like

Julian didn’t answer.

And the silence terrified her.
