CHAPTER 3 — The Secret Behind the Invitation

As the applause faded, one elderly nobleman suddenly stood.

His face was filled with surprise.

"I know her."

Heads turned.

The man slowly approached the elderly woman.

His eyes widened.

"Margaret?"

The old woman looked up.

Then gasped.

"Edward?"

The room watched in confusion.

The nobleman smiled sadly.

"Forty years ago, during the flood disaster..."

The CEO frowned.

"What flood?"

Edward looked at him.

"Your mother saved my life."

The room became silent again.

Edward explained that decades earlier, a devastating flood had destroyed part of the countryside.

He had been trapped inside a collapsing vehicle.

Everyone else had run away.

Except one young woman.

Margaret.

She had jumped into the rushing water and pulled him to safety.

The CEO stared at his mother in disbelief.

"You never told me."

She shrugged.

"It wasn't important."

Edward laughed softly.

"It was important to me."

Then he reached into his jacket and revealed an old photograph.

A younger Margaret stood beside him.

Smiling.

Covered in mud.

The entire room stared.

The proof was undeniable.

The woman who had been mocked only minutes earlier had spent her entire life helping others without asking for recognition.
