Chapter 2: The Hidden Room

Camila pretended to obey.

She served table twelve, smiled politely, and apologized for the delay.

But as soon as she entered the kitchen, she grabbed her phone.

Instead of calling the restaurant owner...

...she dialed the police.

Speaking quietly beside the freezer, she gave the address and whispered,

"I think there's a kidnapped child hiding inside this restaurant."

Minutes later, she returned to the dining room.

Sofía was gone.

Panic surged through her.

Then she heard a faint knocking.

Three soft taps.

From behind the wine cellar.

Camila discovered a narrow storage door hidden behind shelves of expensive bottles.

Inside sat Sofía, curled into a corner.

"I heard them," the girl whispered.

"They're taking me somewhere else tonight."

Camila noticed bruises around the child's wrists.

There was also a small silver bracelet engraved with one word:

SOFÍA.

"They've moved lots of children," Sofía whispered.

"They keep them downstairs until someone comes."

Camila stared at her.

"There are more?"

The girl nodded.

Before either of them could move...

...the storage door slammed shut.

Someone locked it from the outside.

Footsteps echoed away.

Then Camila heard the manager's voice.

"You should have minded your own business."
