Chapter 3: The Lies Collapse
Chapter 3: The Lies Collapse
The officers separated everyone.
Emma was placed on a stretcher for examination while paramedics monitored her baby.
Mark tried to approach.
"Emma... please... I didn't know Mom would—"
"You watched."
Emma's voice was barely above a whisper.
"You watched everything."
Those four words hit harder than any accusation.
Meanwhile, detectives questioned Margaret.
She insisted Emma had fallen.
But David quietly handed over a small flash drive.
"I installed security cameras in Emma's car after she told me she felt unsafe."
The detective frowned.
"What does that have to do with today?"
David answered,
"The camera records every time the driver's door opens."
Earlier that afternoon, Emma had parked outside the mansion.
The camera continued recording.
Its microphone captured everything through the open garage entrance.
The insults.
The threats.
Margaret ordering Emma onto her knees.
Mark remaining completely silent.
Every second had been recorded.
There was no argument.
No misunderstanding.
Only evidence.
Margaret's shoulders slumped as officers placed handcuffs around her wrists.
"You can't arrest me!"
One officer calmly replied,
"We're arresting you for assault, unlawful restraint, and endangering a pregnant woman."
Mark stood frozen.
Then another officer stepped toward him.
"Sir, you're also under investigation for failure to report domestic violence and possible coercive control."
His knees nearly gave out.
Everything he had protected...
His reputation.
His inheritance.
May you like
His mother's approval.
Vanished in a single afternoon.
