REVENGE FOR HER MOTHER / Chapter 4 / 5 0

Chapter 4: The Last Letter

Adrian reached into his jacket again.

This time, he removed an old envelope.

The paper was yellowed at the edges. The handwriting was delicate and faded.

“My mother wrote this the night before she died.”

Marianne’s confident mask shattered.

“No.”

Adrian unfolded the letter.

His voice did not break, but the pain beneath it was unmistakable.

“My Adrian, if anything happens to me, do not let hatred become your life. But do not let my silence become your prison. The truth is hidden where love began.”

He looked toward the far wall.

An old portrait of Evelyn hung there, painted years before her death.

Adrian nodded to the staff.

The portrait was lifted from the wall.

Behind it was a small hidden safe.

The guests watched in stunned silence as Adrian entered the code.

His mother’s birthday.

Inside were documents.

Medical reports.

Bank transfers.

Private letters.

And one signed confession from the doctor Marianne had bribed to declare Evelyn mentally unstable.

Marianne stepped backward.

“You have no right…”

Adrian turned to her.

“No. You had no right to bury my mother under lies.”

The doors opened.

Two police officers entered the room.

Celeste covered her mouth.

Marianne looked at Adrian with pure hatred.

“You planned this entire dinner.”

Adrian’s expression was unreadable.

“No. My mother did.”
