Chapter 2: Julian's Empire Falls

Julian forced a laugh.
"This changes nothing."
"The divorce is final."
"The assets are mine."
Eleanor smiled.
For the first time.
It wasn't kind.
It was terrifying.
"My dear..."
"You assume this is about money."
She turned toward her legal team.
"Proceed."
Another attorney stood.
"Your Honor, we request an immediate criminal investigation."
Julian frowned.
"On what grounds?"
The lawyer calmly placed another folder on the judge's desk.
"We've discovered evidence that Mr. Julian Reed forged financial documents during the marriage."
"He transferred Clara's inheritance into shell companies."
"He hid marital assets."
"He committed tax fraud."
"And he deliberately manipulated the court."
The room exploded with whispers.
Julian's attorney opened the documents.
His face turned white.
"When... where did you get these?"
Eleanor answered calmly.
"I own the bank."
Julian stumbled backward.
"No..."
Security officers entered again.
This time...
Not Eleanor's.
Federal investigators.
"Julian Reed?"
"You're under arrest."
He looked desperately toward Clara.
"Please..."
"I made mistakes."
"I still love you."
Clara stared at him for a long moment.
Then gently placed one hand over her unborn son.
"No."
"You only loved controlling me."
She watched silently as the handcuffs clicked around his wrists.
For the first time...
Julian understood what losing everything truly felt like.
