Lily looked embarrassed.

"I don't want people to misunderstand."

Vincent smiled for the first time in years.

"Then let them misunderstand."

He knelt before her.

Simply as a man.

"I gave you that ring because I wanted to protect you."

He gently took her scarred hand.

"But today..."

"I want to ask if you'll wear it because I love you."

Tears filled Lily's eyes.

"Yes."
