Chapter 2: The Bride They Tried to Erase

Joan suddenly stood.

"You can't prove I destroyed that dress!"

Without saying a word, the Maid of Honor stepped forward.

"So can I."

She held up her phone.

"I started recording before Mr. Thomas walked in."

The ballroom screens, originally prepared for the wedding slideshow, flickered to life.

The video played.

Joan could be seen smiling as she deliberately cut through the delicate lace.

Then came her own voice.

"Madison wears it better anyway."

Silence.

Then another recording.

Madison laughed.

"After today, everyone will remember me... not Dakota."

Several guests immediately turned away in disgust.

The wedding planner quietly removed Madison's place card from the head table.

The bridesmaids stepped beside Dakota.

One by one.

Without speaking.

Showing everyone exactly who the real bride was.

Thomas walked toward his daughter.

"I'm sorry."

His voice trembled.

"I kept believing lies because they were easier than asking you the truth."

Dakota looked at him for a long moment.

"You weren't there when I needed you."

"I know."

"I can't change that."

He swallowed hard.

"But if you'll let me... I'd like to start today."

Dakota's eyes filled with tears.

For the first time in years...

She nodded.

Behind them, security officers entered the ballroom.

Joan reached for Madison's hand.

"Let's go."

But the officers stopped them both.

One detective unfolded an arrest warrant.

"Joan Parker."

"You are under arrest for fraud, forgery, and destruction of property."

Madison's face turned white.

"What about me?"

The detective looked directly at her.

"You'll be coming with us for questioning."

Their perfect performance had ended.

In front of everyone.
