Chapter 2 – The House Was Never Hers

The following morning, Hannah stood outside the mansion she had been thrown out of less than twenty-four hours earlier.

Only this time, she wasn't alone.

Beside her stood her father's attorney, two police officers, and a court-appointed property officer carrying an official folder.

Inside the dining room, her mother was laughing with Emily and Ryan over breakfast.

The laughter stopped the moment the front door opened.

"Hannah?" her mother sneered. "I told you never to come back."

The attorney calmly stepped forward.

"Mrs. Collins, under court authority, we are here to execute the legal transfer of possession."

Her mother laughed.

"What possession? This is my house."

The attorney slowly removed the original deed.

"It is not."

Silence.

"This property has legally belonged to Miss Hannah Collins for the past seven years."

Emily's smile disappeared.

Ryan's face turned pale.

Her mother's hands began to tremble.

"That's impossible."

"It was transferred by your late husband before his death."

The attorney handed Hannah the original document.

"The ownership was deliberately kept confidential until today."

Her mother lunged toward the papers.

"Those are fake!"

One of the officers stepped between them.

"Ma'am, I strongly advise you not to interfere."

For the first time in years...

Hannah looked around the mansion without feeling like an unwanted guest.

She looked directly at her mother.

"You told me to leave your house."

She paused.

"It turns out... you were living in mine."

No one spoke.

But the nightmare was only beginning.

Because ownership of the mansion was the smallest secret her father had left behind.

That afternoon, the attorney unlocked a hidden safety deposit box registered only in Hannah's name.

Inside were hard drives.

Bank statements.

Corporate ledgers.

Security footage.

And one handwritten letter.

"If you're reading this, Hannah...

Then they finally showed you who they truly are.

Now let me show you who they've always been."
