Chapter 1: The Name He Never Knew
Santiago stared at the man in the black overcoat as if he had seen a ghost.
Ricardo Salazar did not raise his voice.
He did not need to.
“Step away from my daughter.”
The word daughter struck the room harder than thunder.
Beatriz’s wine glass slipped from her fingers and shattered across the marble floor.
Santiago’s face drained of color.
“Your… daughter?”
Valeria slowly rose with the help of one security officer, one hand still wrapped around her belly.
“Yes,” she whispered. “My name is Valeria Salazar.”
Ricardo’s attorneys opened their leather cases.
Inside were copies of recordings, forged psychiatric papers, insurance documents, custody plans, and financial agreements tying the Rivas empire to Salazar-controlled loans.
Santiago tried to laugh.
But no sound came out.
Ricardo looked at him coldly.
“You threatened my daughter. You planned to steal her child. And you were foolish enough to do it in a house full of cameras.”
Beatriz stepped back.
“This is a misunderstanding.”
Valeria turned to her.
“No. It was a plan.”
At that moment, police sirens wailed beyond the gates.
For the first time, Santiago Rivas understood.
