The directors were already waiting.

One elderly director slowly removed his glasses.
"You were."
The Chief Legal Officer placed several documents before the board.
"Mr. Daniel Ward knowingly violated the company's ethics policy by maintaining an undisclosed personal relationship that created financial and reputational risk."
Another file landed beside it.
"Evidence also confirms misuse of corporate funds for private luxury purchases, all approved under his executive authority."
Daniel stared in disbelief.
"How long have you been investigating me?"
The answer came from Elena.
"Since the day I discovered your affair."
Every executive lowered their eyes.
She had never acted out of anger.
She had simply waited until every piece was in place.
The chairman cleared his throat.
"Motion to remove Daniel Ward as Chief Executive Officer."
Every hand rose.
Unanimously.
Daniel's employee badge was placed on the table.
The security team stepped forward.
"Sir... we'll escort you outside."
