Chapter 2 — The Truth Hidden in the Blue Folder

Richard's fingers refused to obey him.
The blue folder felt heavier with every page he turned.
His lawyer's signature.
The official company seal.
The property deeds.
Every document carried one undeniable truth.
Lucia wasn't just his wife.
She was the legal owner of everything.
The mansion.
The company headquarters.
The investment accounts.
Even the luxury cars parked outside.
Richard looked up, his face drained of color.
"This... this is impossible."
Lucia remained perfectly calm.
"No."
"It's perfectly legal."
She slowly faced the guests.
"Fifteen years ago, Richard's business was bankrupt."
"No bank would lend him another dollar."
"So I used my inheritance."
"My father's trust purchased every asset."
"The lawyers advised me to keep everything in my name until the company became stable."
She paused.
"I trusted my husband."
Richard staggered backward.
"You never told me..."
Lucia smiled sadly.
"You never asked."
One of the guests whispered,
"So Richard never actually owned the company?"
The family attorney stepped forward from the crowd.
"I'm afraid that's correct."
"Mr. Richard Harrison served as Chief Executive Officer..."
"...but Mrs. Lucia Harrison has always been the sole shareholder."
A stunned silence swept across the ballroom.
Camila's confident smile disappeared.
She slowly stepped away from Richard.
"You told me everything belonged to you."
Richard couldn't answer.
Because for the first time in his life...
He realized he had built his pride on something that had never been his.
Then Lucia spoke again.
"I've already signed the paperwork."
"As of this morning..."
"...you've been removed as CEO."
Gasps echoed through the room.
Richard's phone vibrated.
Then again.
And again.
His board of directors.
His executives.
His bank.
Every notification carried the same message.
Access revoked.
Authority terminated.
His empire had vanished...
...before he even finished reading the folder.
