Chapter 2: Carmen’s Perfect Morning

At 9:00 a.m., Carmen Valdez was exactly where Alexander expected her to be.

In the grand dining room of her estate, sipping black coffee beneath a chandelier, surrounded by women who believed wealth made them untouchable.

Javier sat across from her, looking nervous.

Carmen looked satisfied.

“She’ll come around,” she told him. “Girls like Sofia cry first. Then they obey.”

Javier rubbed his forehead.

“She ran to her mother.”

Carmen smiled.

“Good. Let her mother comfort her. By tonight, she’ll be too scared to do anything else.”

Then the front gates opened.

Three black cars rolled up the driveway.

Carmen’s smile faded.

Alexander stepped out first.

Behind him came two attorneys, one private investigator, and a uniformed police officer.

Javier stood so quickly his chair nearly tipped over.

“What is this?”

Alexander walked into the dining room without waiting to be invited.

Carmen rose from her chair, her diamonds flashing at her throat.

“Alexander,” she said, forcing a smile. “This is a private home.”

“So was the hotel room where your family attacked my daughter.”

The room went silent.

Carmen’s face tightened.

“I have no idea what Sofia told you, but she was hysterical. Young brides can be dramatic.”

Alexander placed a folder on the table.

“Security footage.”

Carmen’s smile vanished.

“Medical report.”

Another folder.

“Witness statements from two hotel employees who heard screaming.”

Another folder.

“And a recording from the hallway.”

Javier went pale.

Carmen looked at him sharply.

Alexander tapped the final file.

“In that recording, Javier says, ‘Don’t leave bruises on her face where people can see them.’”

Javier’s mouth opened.

Nothing came out.

Carmen recovered first.

“You think you can threaten us?” she snapped. “Do you know who we are?”

Alexander leaned forward slightly.

“Yes. I do.”

His voice stayed soft.

“That’s why I know exactly where to hit.”

Within one hour, Carmen’s bank accounts were frozen under investigation for financial coercion and fraud.

Within two hours, the board members of the charity foundation she controlled received copies of the evidence.

Within three hours, every major donor had stepped away.

By noon, Carmen’s name was no longer whispered with admiration.

It was whispered with disgust.

And by late afternoon, police cars pulled up outside her estate.

May you like

For the first time in her life, Carmen Valdez did not look powerful.

She looked small.
