Chapter 3: One More Recording
The hotel manager hesitated.
"There is... another camera."
Julian immediately stood.
"That's enough."
"No," Evelyn replied calmly.
"Play it."
The second recording overlooked the bridal suite hallway thirty minutes before the ceremony.
Julian believed he was alone.
Instead...
The camera showed him speaking with his mother.
"If she brings that little girl into my life permanently," he said, "I'll never have any peace."
His mother answered quietly.
"Just smile through today. We'll deal with them after the honeymoon."
The room fell silent again.
Even Julian's father looked sick.
His mother slowly closed her eyes.
Years of pretending everything was perfect had finally reached their end.
Evelyn removed her wedding ring.
She placed it gently on the conference table.
"I don't think there's a marriage left to save."
