Part 3: They Walked Into the Hospital Believing They Controlled the Story… Until the Security Cameras Proved Everything
Owen and Judith arrived less than an hour later.
Judith wore another elegant cream cardigan.
Fresh makeup.
Perfect hair.
She looked more annoyed than worried.
Inside the consultation room, Detective Sarah Collins waited beside two uniformed officers.
Rebecca Ellis remained next to Mara.
The detective spoke first.
"Mrs. Holloway claims you assaulted her."
Judith laughed softly.
"Absolutely ridiculous."
"She slipped while cooking."
Owen nodded.
"She's emotionally unstable."
"We recently lost a baby."
"She's been having episodes."
Detective Collins quietly folded her hands.
"I expected you'd say that."
She pressed a remote.
A television mounted on the wall came to life.
The screen showed Mrs. Delgado's front porch.
Rain poured from the sky.
A security camera overlooked the entire walkway.
Everyone watched silently.
There was Mara...
Dragging herself across wet concrete.
One leg twisted behind her.
Every movement slow.
Painful.
She collapsed against the porch.
Knocked weakly.
Mrs. Delgado opened the door.
Then the camera captured something else.
The elderly woman immediately shouted,
"Oh my God!"
"Who did this to you?"
Mara answered only four words.
"My mother-in-law..."
"...broke my leg."
The recording ended.
Nobody spoke.
Judith's face lost all color.
Owen swallowed hard.
Detective Collins quietly slid another folder across the table.
"These are your wife's medical findings."
"Multiple healed injuries."
"Signs of prolonged abuse."
"And evidence that the fracture was caused by repeated blunt-force strikes."
Then she placed one final document beside it.
"A warrant."
Judith stared at it.
"What..."
"...is that?"
"Your arrest warrant."
She stood abruptly.
"This is insane!"
"I never—"
The officers stepped forward.
One pair of handcuffs clicked shut around her wrists.
For the first time in years...
Judith looked afraid.
As officers escorted her away, she turned toward Owen.
"Do something!"

But Owen couldn't move.
Because another detective had already begun reading his rights.
