The detectives began opening the evidence boxes.
Each contained financial records.
Forged deeds.
Wire transfers.
Hidden bank accounts.
The lead investigator looked directly at Mason.
"You've been under investigation for eighteen months."
"This wedding merely accelerated our timetable."
Mason stared in disbelief.
"You used Grace..."
"...as bait?"
The detective nodded.
"We were waiting for everyone involved to expose themselves."
Vanessa tried running toward the exit.
She barely reached the barn doors before another officer stopped her.
Noah quietly stepped forward.
"I'll testify."
Vanessa spun around.
"You promised!"
"I promised because I was afraid."
He looked at Grace.
"I'm done being afraid."
One by one, Brooke, Noah, Grace's parents, and several accountants agreed to cooperate.
Within an hour, Mason and Vanessa were led away in handcuffs.
Neither spoke.
Neither looked back.
Outside, police vehicles disappeared down the country road.
