Part 2 – The Man Who Refused to Die

Victor Grant stumbled backward until his legs hit the side of the sedan.

His heartbeat pounded so loudly he could barely hear the convoy's engines shutting down.

"No..."

His voice cracked.

"You're dead."

The tall man who stepped from the lead SUV adjusted the cuffs of his black overcoat before calmly closing the door behind him.

Every movement carried absolute confidence.

No rush.

No anger.

Only control.

"Liam."

His deep voice cut through the silence.

"You okay?"

Liam nodded, though his shoulder throbbed from the fall.

"I'm okay, Dad."

The man rested one reassuring hand on his son's shoulder before finally turning toward Victor.

"So..."

His eyes were cold.

"You've been hunting my son."

Victor forced himself to laugh.

"This is impossible."

"We buried you."

The stranger smiled faintly.

"You buried someone."

"But not me."

Victor's breathing became uneven.

Seven years earlier, Ethan Carter had disappeared after the explosion of his private helicopter.

Authorities declared him dead.

His rivals celebrated.

Victor had celebrated the loudest.

Because he had arranged the explosion himself.

Or so he believed.

Ethan slowly removed a leather folder from inside his coat.

Inside were photographs.

Bank transfers.

Recorded phone logs.

Security footage.

Every crime Victor had committed over the past decade.

"I spent seven years disappearing."

"I wanted everyone to believe I was dead."

"Especially you."

Victor's confidence shattered.

"You..."

"You set me up."

"No."

Ethan replied quietly.

"I gave you enough freedom..."

"...to expose yourself."

Police sirens echoed in the distance.

Victor glanced toward his sedan.

Then toward the alley beside the boulevard.

His survival instinct took over.

Without warning—

He spun around and ran.

Three bodyguards moved instantly.

Victor slipped between two parked cars, vaulted a fence, and disappeared into the neighboring estate.

Liam watched him vanish.

"Dad..."

"He's getting away."

Ethan never looked worried.

"No."

"He already ran exactly where I wanted him to."

Because hidden beneath Victor's expensive watch...

...was a tracker Ethan's team had secretly planted months ago.

And Victor had just led them straight to someone even more dangerous.

The man who had financed everything.
