CHAPTER 2 — The Empire Falls Before Sunrise

The mansion that Chad had proudly called his own transformed overnight.
By midnight, every room echoed with the sounds of inventory teams documenting priceless artwork, antique furniture, luxury watches, and designer collections.
Each item received a barcode.
Each asset was photographed.
Each document was sealed.
The Dixon family's attorneys supervised every step.
Chad stormed into the grand foyer.
"You can't touch any of this!"
The lead attorney calmly opened another folder.
"We already have."
He slid several papers across the marble table.
"These are certified ownership records."
"The vehicles are registered to Dixon Holdings."
"The artwork belongs to the Dixon Foundation."
"The investment portfolios are under Miss Olivia Dixon's trust."
"The house itself has always remained under the Dixon Family Estate."
Chad snatched the documents.
His hands trembled as he read every page.
Everything...
Every luxury he had enjoyed for four years...
Had never belonged to him.
Victoria refused to believe it.
"There has to be some mistake!"
She marched upstairs toward the master bedroom.
The biometric lock refused her fingerprint.
Access Denied.
Seconds later, security guards appeared.
"Miss Victoria..."
"You'll need to collect only your personal belongings."
She exploded.
"I live here!"
One guard remained expressionless.
"Not anymore."
Meanwhile...
Across town...
Olivia quietly entered the Dixon family estate.
Her father, Richard Dixon, stood waiting in the entrance hall.
The powerful businessman embraced his daughter without saying a word.
Only after several silent seconds did he finally whisper,
"I'm sorry I let you fight this battle alone."
Olivia smiled through tired eyes.
"I needed to know whether Chad loved me..."
"...or only my name."
Richard looked down at her pregnant belly.
"He failed both tests."
Olivia nodded.
"Now our child will never have to wonder where love truly lives."
Outside...
The first rays of sunrise touched the city.
Inside the mansion...
Security changed every lock.
By exactly six o'clock...
Chad Lawson officially became homeless.
