CHAPTER 4 — Justice Walked Out With Her

CHAPTER 4 — Justice Walked Out With Her
Police investigators entered the ballroom.
Not because my father ordered them.
Because the evidence did.
Daniel was placed in handcuffs.
For the first time in his life...
No one came to rescue him.
As officers escorted him toward the exit, he turned back.
"I'm sorry."
"I made a mistake."
I met his eyes one last time.
"No."
"A mistake is spilling a drink."
"You made a choice."
"And tonight, you live with its consequences."
He lowered his head.
The steel barriers slowly lifted.
One by one.
The guests hurried outside without saying a word.
Many avoided looking at me.
Others quietly apologized before leaving.
None of it mattered anymore.
My father gently placed his jacket over my shoulders.
"Ready to go home?"
I nodded.
As we walked toward the waiting car, the rising sun painted the horizon with gold.
Behind us...
The ballroom that had witnessed arrogance, cruelty, and silence stood empty.
Justice had not arrived with anger.
It had arrived with patience, truth, and undeniable evidence.
And everyone who had chosen to look away learned the same lesson that night:
Power can buy influence.
Fear can buy silence.
But neither can outrun the consequences of the truth.
