Chapter 4: No One Escaped Justice

By sunrise...
The ballroom was empty.
Champagne glasses remained untouched.
Designer handbags and luxury watches had been abandoned in the chaos.
One by one, the guests were escorted into waiting police vehicles.
The man who had assaulted me walked out in handcuffs.
For the first time in his life...
No one opened a door for him.
No one protected him.
As officers led him past me, he finally whispered,
"I'm sorry."
I met his eyes calmly.
"No."
"You're sorry you lost."
"I've already survived."
"You'll have to live with what you became."
He lowered his head.
My father placed his jacket over my shoulders.
"You did well."
"I was afraid."
I admitted quietly.
He smiled.
"Courage isn't the absence of fear."
"It's refusing to let fear decide your future."
Weeks later...
The court sentenced the attacker to prison.
Several influential businessmen lost their companies.
Corrupt officials were removed from office.
Millions in stolen assets were recovered and donated to real charities that actually helped people.
The ballroom eventually reopened.
But there was one permanent change.
Above the entrance hung a bronze plaque that read:
"Power protects itself. Justice protects everyone."
And every person who entered knew the story of the night when the most powerful people in the city discovered...
The real trap was never the steel doors.
It was believing they were above the law.
