CHAPTER 3: THE SECRET ROOM

The next morning, the billionaire took the girl to his estate.
Her name was Emily.
She barely spoke.
Years of fear had taught her not to trust easily.
But she carried one thing everywhere she went.
Her mother's worn backpack.
Inside were Sarah's belongings.
A few photographs.
Medical records.
And a small brass key.
The billionaire stared at the key.
"What does it open?"
Emily shook her head.
"Mom never told me."
That afternoon they drove to the address listed in the confession.
An abandoned cottage stood hidden among old trees.
Dust covered everything.
The place looked untouched for years.
Then Emily noticed something.
A keyhole hidden behind a bookshelf.
The brass key fit perfectly.
With a click, part of the wall swung open.
Behind it was a secret room.
The billionaire's breath caught.
Boxes.
Documents.
Audio recordings.
Bank transfers.
Photographs.
Enough evidence to destroy everyone involved in the murder.
But one item drew his attention immediately.
A video recorder.
His hands shook as he pressed play.
Sarah appeared on screen.
She looked exhausted.
Terrified.
And very aware she might not survive.
"If you're watching this," she said softly, "I'm probably gone."
Emily immediately burst into tears.
The billionaire wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
Sarah continued.
"The woman who poisoned Evelyn didn't act alone."
The billionaire froze.
There was someone else.
Someone even closer.
Someone Sarah had been too afraid to name in writing.
The video continued.
And when the face finally appeared in one of the photographs behind Sarah...
The billionaire nearly collapsed.
It was his own younger brother.
The man who had helped organize his daughter's funeral.
The man he trusted more than anyone.
The man who had been helping cover up the murder from the beginning.
Everything suddenly made sense.
The missing evidence.
The vanished witnesses.
The closed investigations.
