Chapter 1: The Hidden Truth

The world around them seemed to disappear.

The woman clutched the silver locket tightly as tears streamed down her face.

"My brother..." she whispered.

Ethan stared at her uncertainly.

"You knew my dad?"

Before she could answer, her daughter gently took Ethan's hand.

"My name is Sophie," she said. "You can sit with us."

For the first time in years, Ethan felt warmth from strangers.

The woman introduced herself as Claire.

And that afternoon, she brought Ethan home.

Inside the mansion, Claire carefully examined the locket again.

Behind the folded note, she discovered something else.

A small piece of paper hidden beneath the photograph.

An address.

An address from a remote mountain town nearly three hundred miles away.

The next morning, Claire hired investigators.

Three days later, they found something unbelievable.

Fifteen years ago, Claire's brother Daniel had survived the accident everyone believed had killed him.

But he had suffered severe injuries and lost everything.

Unable to contact his family, he disappeared from public records.

For years he worked odd jobs while secretly raising Ethan alone.

Then, two years earlier, Daniel himself had vanished.

No one knew where he went.

No one except one elderly mechanic who remembered his final words.

"If anything happens to me, make sure my son finds my sister."

Claire's heart broke.

Her brother had spent fifteen years trying to protect his son.

And now Ethan was all that remained.

But deep down, Claire felt Daniel was still alive.
