CHAPTER 4 — A DAUGHTER FOUND

Three months later, the Harrington estate looked very different.

Victoria had moved out.

The divorce was underway.

The newspapers called it the scandal of the decade.

But Emma didn't care about headlines.

She had never come for money.

She had come for answers.

One quiet afternoon, Richard invited her to visit the family vineyard.

They walked between endless rows of green vines beneath the golden sunlight.

For a long time neither spoke.

Then Richard finally stopped.

"I'm sorry."

Emma looked at him.

"For what?"

"For missing your first steps."

His voice broke.

"For missing your birthdays."

He looked away.

"For not being there when you needed a father."

Tears filled Emma's eyes.

"You didn't know."

"No," Richard whispered.

"But I should have found you."

For a moment neither moved.

Then Emma stepped forward and wrapped her arms around him.

Richard held his daughter for the very first time.

Not as a billionaire.

Not as a powerful businessman.

Just as a father.

And for the first time in more than twenty years, both of them felt whole.

As the sun set over the vineyard, Emma looked toward the sky and smiled.

Somewhere, she hoped her mother could see them.

The family that had been broken by lies had finally found its way back together.

And sometimes, the greatest inheritance isn't wealth or power.

May you like

It's the truth.
